Widex Moment

The latest hearing technology from Widex, the Moment platform and its wealth of features

Why do end users sometimes  experience an unnatural sound with hearing aids, and how Widex has overcome this with the latest Widex Moment range?

Widex have been long known in the industry for their innovative hearing technology and the ‘Widex sound’ boasting the most natural sounding hearing aids currently on the market. In their dedicated research centre, years of work has gone into looking at the delay-based distortion that naturally occurs when processing sound through a hearing aid.

Delay Based Distortion:

Due to what is known as the comb filter artefact, voices do not sound the same when listening through a hearing aid, so they no longer sound natural. This is the result of natural sound coming from the outside of the ear and into the canal, but the same sound also being processed through the hearing aid and arriving at the eardrum in a delayed manner. This can cause a robotic, hollow sound which is not very natural. In response to this understanding,

Widex have now produced a hearing aid called the WIDEX MOMENT with virtually no delay. Using this zero-delay technology, the extremely fast processing of the sound through the hearing aid (less than half a millisecond) Widex have unveiled their new ‘pure sound’ experience which has been incorporated into the new Moment microchip.

Pure Sound – The new the new ultrafast signal pathway that reduces the processing delay between microphone and receiver to below 0.5 milliseconds to overcome artificial sound, making it the most natural sounding hearing aid on the market.
